| People who have previous bad
experiences with credit, who have failed to keep up credit agreements, have county
court judgements, defaults or mortgage arrears might have difficulty in obtaining
loans.
Every UK lender has different criteria by which they judge loan applications,
and some lenders will be more sympathetic to those with a bad credit history than
others. Some lenders will look at an applicant's entire credit history when considering
their application for a loan where others will only consider the applicant's present
situation. However, today the UK loans market is so crowded with competitors that
almost anyone, even those with a bad credit history, can obtain loans.
People with a poor credit history will have most luck in applying for a secured
personal loan as the property on which the loan is secured will offer the lender
the peace of mind not provided by the applicant's credit history. If you have
a bad credit history, however, it is most likely that you will not be offered
a loan on such favourable terms as someone with a perfect credit record. In such
cases you should be extra-vigilant in checking the terms and conditions of your
personal loan to make sure that you are not bound by any unreasonable terms and
conditions. If you have a bad credit history then you should expect to pay a higher
rate of interest, but this doesn't mean that you should sacrifice your rights
as a consumer. Anyone looking to make a personal loan application should shop
around for a personal loan and go for the best one for their needs. Be cautious
and don't necessarily go for the first loan for which you are accepted.
